Comparing AI receptionist pricing options for a UK trades business

There is no single price that applies to every UK AI receptionist service. Quotes depend on the call types, coverage, usage, setup and support included. Compare current written prices against the scope you need, and ask about charges that sit outside the quoted fee.

The Two Pricing Models

Per-minute / per-call tools

Some providers price usage by call or minute, while others use a subscription or a mixture of both. Check what counts as billable usage, what configuration you must handle and what support is included.

Flat monthly managed services

Managed services may bundle implementation and ongoing support, but inclusions vary. Ask for an itemised current price and scope in writing, including any usage charges.

What Actually Drives The Price

  • Voice vs SMS. These are different services. Compare what happens during a live call with what happens after a call is missed, then check included usage and charges for each.
  • Industry specificity. Ask how roofing terms and questions are configured, who maintains the script and whether changes incur extra charges.
  • What happens after the call. Check whether qualification, lead summaries, calendar booking or follow-up are included, and what each adds to the quote.
  • Managed vs DIY. Confirm who writes scripts, connects the phone line, maintains the setup and handles edge cases.

Hidden Costs To Check Before You Sign

  • Setup fees. Ask whether onboarding or configuration is included in the quoted price.
  • Minimum terms. Confirm the initial term, renewal terms and cancellation notice before signing.
  • Per-lead or per-minute overages. Ask what a heavy month costs, not an average one.
  • Number ownership. If the service gives you a new number, ask what happens to it when you leave. A system layered over your existing number avoids the problem entirely.
  • Cancellation mechanics. Ask how notice must be given and when service ends.

What to Confirm With RoofFlow

Ask RoofFlow for its current service scope and a written quote before comparing prices. Confirm whether the option is live human answering, AI voice receptionist or missed-call text-back, along with coverage, included usage, any extras, setup and cancellation terms. Historic Founding Partner figures have been removed because they are not a current public price list.
